Bernstein on "Words & Music"

On Saturday, January 27th, “Beyond Jazz” presents another edition of “Words and Music,” a show titled “STEVEN BERNSTEIN: SEX MOB EXPOSED!”

Join Russ Davis as he talks to the master of the slide trumpet, the brilliant leader of one of the most popular groups in the famous “downtown scene” in New York and a recent Grammy nominee for Sex Mob’s latest CD, “Sexotica.” You’ll hear from Steven as he tells the story of his great personal life and career that includes not only his work with Sex Mob, but dozens of great projects like his film work on Robert Altman’s “Kansas City,” and “Get Shorty,” to his other band, The Millennial Territory Orchestra.

Each hour begins with conversation followed by music and it all starts at noon and lasts through Midnight Eastern time (9 AM – 9 PM Pacific.) It’s “STEVEN BERNSTEIN…SEX MOB EXPOSED,” this week’s edition of “Words & Music”

The American Beauty Project

The American Beauty Project will honor the Grateful Dead’s two storied 1970 albums, American Beauty and Workingman’s Dead, albums comprised of true hymns to Americana, and created during a period in the band’s history when they were compared to a Charles Ives village green band.

Two free concerts will be given under the glass atrium of
the World Financial Center Winter Garden (directly across the street from the World Trade Center site in lower Manhattan), Saturday and Sunday, January 20 and 21, 2007.

Performing their own arrangements of the songs will be Sex Mob, Tony Trischka, Jen Chapin, Jim Lauderdale, Dar Williams, Toshi Reagon, Jay Farrar (Son Volt/Uncle Tupelo), Jorma Kaukonen (Jefferson Airplane/Hot Tuna), Ollabelle, Mark Eitzel (American Music Club), Tim O’ Reagon (The Jayhawks), The Holmes Brothers, Catherine Russell, Larry Campbell (Bob Dylan, Phil Lesh & Friends), Andy Statman, The Klezmatics, and many more!
